Kellogg & Kimsey delivered this 5-story, 96-key Hampton Inn & Suites in Fultondale, just off Interstate 65 north of Birmingham, a ground-up rebuild born from disaster. In January 2021, an EF-3 tornado tore through the Birmingham area and left the site's original Hampton Inn a total loss. On the same 2.5-acre site, Kellogg & Kimsey built a new 56,643-square-foot, block-and-plank hotel from the ground up for a valued repeat client. To help the owner restore the property and get the community's hotel back online as quickly as possible, the project was delivered as a design/build, with Kellogg & Kimsey contracting directly with the architect and MEP engineers to compress the schedule and fast-track construction. The result gave Fultondale back a modern, all-suites Hilton hotel that has since become one of the area's highest-rated places to stay.
